GVMA’s 27TH ANNUAL SPRING
SHOW Having our 27th Annual Spring Show on a Parkade Roof Top was a new adventure for us. We were hoping for great weather but we were prepared for some of our not so nice spring weather as we just had to move the show down one level in the parkade to stay out of the weather. As it turned out our 27th Annual Spring Show really was "Mustangs On Top" the weather was picture perfect, the view of the North Shore was spectacular, the attendance was one of the best for our Spring Show with 81 vehicles registered. The lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory was a big hit, 122 people enjoyed the salad, spaghetti, ice cream and a beverage.
A LITTLE HISTORY OF THE PREVIOUS SPRING SHOWS Back in the Spring of 1981, a group of Mustangers decided to get together and form a new Mustang club, hence the GVMA was born. In May of 1982 cruise out to Harrison Hot Springs for lunch was planned. The day was enjoyed so much it was decided to make this an annual event. It soon became a weekend get-away for some GVMA members with golf games on Saturday and a car show on Sunday. This event was held at the Harrison Hot Springs Hotel until 1995. In 1996 it was held in Chilliwack at the Holiday Inn. In 1997 the Spring Show moved to Derby Reach Regional Park in the Fort Langley area for a family picnic and car show. From 1998 to 2000 members of the GVMA cruised to Squamish to the Easter Seal Camp for a picnic and car show. Where GVMA members and guests enjoyed barbecued hot dogs, chips and pop under a covered area. In 2001 the Spring Show returned to Chilliwack and was held at the Best Western Rainbow Country Inn until 2005. Most participants have enjoyed the Sunday Brunch in the banquet room prior to the awards presentations In 2006 the Spring Show was moved to he Port Kells NAPA AUTO PARTS STORE & WAREHOUSE. In 2006 we had 66 vehicles registered. The weather was a little damp and cool to start off the day but before long the sun came out as seen in the two photos below.
